Getting some Mums Me Time at the cinema

One thing that has been lacking from my life recently is enjoying some quality time with my friends. I never seem to enjoy any me time or to enjoy catching up with my friends. Life just gets in the way (especially when you have kids). If I do meet up with my friends it's normally a play date with kids in tow.

I've made a pact to myself that I have to make more of an effort to have 'dates' with my friends. I think it's very important to maintain friendships as friends are crucial for support, love, happiness, laughter and they can give you a good telling off if you need it.

I've been thinking of the best ways to enjoy this Mums Me Time that I desperately crave. Here's what i've come up with so far:
  • Afternoon tea
  • Dinner
  • Lunch
  • Cinema
  • Spa Day
  • Cocktail making class
  • Exercise
  • Go Karting
  • Pamper Day
  • Evening Drinks
  • A night on the town
  • Theatre
  • Shopping
I was recently invited for a cinema date with some of my South Wales blogging friends at The Odeon in The Red Dragon Centre Cardiff Bay. I jumped at the chance to go as going to the cinema used to be one of my favourite things to do.

There was myself, Cathryn from Cardiff Mummy Says, Alina from We Made This Life and Emily from Twin Mummy and Daddy We watched Bad Moms. It was the perfect film for some mums me time.

We met at Costa (which is inside the cinema) for a coffee and chitchat before the film started. As you can imagine we talked for Britain and put the world to right. We then headed into the film. The film is absolutely hilarious and each one of us could relate to it more than we thought we would. It emphasised my point of needing a good friendship group and having your own time.

A cinema date was a lovely way of getting some me time. We were able to talk, laugh and relax. I didn't realise how much I missed going to the cinema. Before we had children hubby and I had one of those cards at a different cinema chain where you pay monthly and you can see as many films as you like. Odeon now has the same thing which is called Limitless. I think I should get one of these as it would make me have more date nights with my husband and with my friends.

Have you seen Bad moms? What films would you recommend seeing? Do you have any other ideas to add to my Mums Me Time list?

Keep your eyes peeled on my blog to find out where we go next.

  1. Looks like you had a blast! I can't wait to see Bad Moms, it looks hilarious 😍

  2. It was such a fab film, and lovely to see you all. I see a lot of children's films these days but never grown up films. Makes me think I need to do it more often because it was such a good night. I am looking forward to more mums' nights out with you all xxx

  3. It was a shame I couldn't join you as you had such a good time, I look forward to having some mums me time too xx

  4. It looks like you had a great time. I haven't been to the cinema for so long. I think I need to arrange a date with my mum friends.

  5. I agree 100% about the importance of spending time with your girlfriends. They are such saviours to me since I've become a mum, especially the non mummy friends when I need to check out of motherhood for a few hours. Looks like it was such a great evening. I really want to see this movie xx

  6. It was a great night and you're right, it's lovely to have some time out!

  7. It sounds like a great night! I'm exactly the same and haven't seen my friends without our little ones coming along for nearly a year ... We have a cinema trip planned this week too :) xx

  8. I had a fab time! The film was so funny! I agree I hadn't realised how much I'd missed going to the cinema either x

  9. I had a fab time! The film was so funny! I agree I hadn't realised how much I'd missed going to the cinema either x

  10. So glad you all had a good time! The film looks so funny (and relatable!!) Mum Me Time needs to be higher on all our lists I think, it's not so easy to look after everyone else when you're not looking after yourself xx

  11. Sounds like it was just what all you all needed.
It's great to catch up with friends and especially blogging buddies. How cool that you all live close by.
I want to see that film too :) x

  12. Sounds like a great day was had! I've seen the trailer for this film and really want to see it. Also, Afternoon Tea is a must! Pettigrew Tearooms = my favourite x

  13. I think it's really important to get some You time after you become a mother as so much changes and a little normality certainly makes things easier. Gutted I couldn't make this trip but hopefully see you soon
