Me and Mine Project - May 2016

This month has honestly flown by. I've literally blinked and missed it. We have had a very busy month. It was our 4 year wedding anniversary, we went on a weekend trip to Tenby and i've been away on a hen weekend to Manchester.

Arwyn and the girls actually had to come and stay in Manchester when I was there for the hen weekend. At the time of booking it hadn't occurred to me that Ophelia wouldn't be drinking my breast milk out of a bottle. Even though I breast fed Eva, she still had 1 bottle of expressed milk every day and I had hoped Ophelia would do the same. This hasn't been the case as she won't take a bottle full stop. I really wanted to go on my cousin's hen so off the girls went on their very first hen weekend! Bad mum of the year over here. They didn't stay in the same apartment as the hens but I popped to feed Ophelia a few times a day.

At the beginning of the month we celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary. We don't have offers piling in to look after both girls so we decided a night away at a local hotel for all of us would be a good way to mark the occasion. We stayed at The Bryn Meadows Hotel which unfortunately didn't live up to our expectations. We were gutted as it felt like a total waste of time and money.

Fortunately to make up for it we booked a very last minute weekend away in Tenby and stayed at the newly opened Premier Inn there, which I can honestly say was far better than than the other hotel. We had a fantastic time. We were so lucky with the weather. It was sunny all weekend. We went for an amazing meal in a lovely restaurant. Eva decided to announce to all the diners that she needed a poo. I will remember that moment for the rest of my life. We ran across the sand and chased the waves during the sunset.

We also visited Folly Farm which is a great day out for the family. Eva milked a goat which she found very funny.

Even though we have been away a few times, we didn't take any proper family portraits this month, only selfies. I still love them all though as they are memories, regardless of how they were taken.

Together this month we have loved:

  • Our spontaneous behaviour and living in the moment
  • The Beach
  • BBQ food
  • Seeing Ophelia shaking her head as if to say no all the time. This makes all of us laugh and she knows we all love it
  • Eva's new dance moves. She has joined a new dance class and likes to give us regular updates of her new routines
June is once again a busy month for us which sees us seizing the most of our family time together. Eva starts her nursery school placement in September so we are trying to savour as much as we can and enjoy as much as we can before she starts.

  1. It sounds like you had a busy month! How disappointing that the hotel you booked for your anniversary wasn't up to standard ... I'm glad the one in Tenby made up for it. We love heading further west in Wales, and Tenby is a regular day trip for us. Now that there's a Premier Inn there we'd consider staying the night too. I hope you have some lovely days out together in June xx
