The owl and the pussy-cat reviews and giveaway

We were lucky enough to receive two great books to review and do a giveaway. I'm very excited as this is the very first giveaway on this blog (watch this space for more).
We received 'The Owl and the Pussy-cat' and 'the Further Adventures of The Owl and the Pussy-cat. At first glance I thought this may be a bit too Old for Eva to enjoy as at her current age (22 months) she is all for picture and lift the flap books. However, I was very keen to give it a go as this is a story that I enjoyed when I was a little girl. This particular version was released last month by Edward Lear and Charlotte Voake and has been given a new sense of intrigue from Charlottes beautiful illustrations. The poetry speaks for itself but the new drawings help motivate yours and your child's imagination further.
The story itself is a classic (i'm sure you will have come across it at some point in your life). This allows the book to be enjoyed by anybody, no matter what their age. At Eva's age the poetry helps to hold her attention. She was highly amused by the pictures of the owl and the pussycat (see pics below).
Every time we read the book I pick up on something that I hadn't before and this shows how easily this book can be kept, cherished and enjoyed for many generations.
The second book 'The Further Adventures of The Owl and the Pussy-cat' was much more of   a hit with Eva and I think this was due to the fact that it comes with a cd. We were able to follow the book whilst listening to the cd. This was an absolute novelty to Eva as we hadn't done this before. The cd also has a version which is accompanied by music which we listen to quite regularly in the car.
This book is set to become a bestseller as it's written by the much loved children's author Julia Donaldson. Anything that has her name on i'm happy to purchase as I am yet to be disappointed by any of her wonderful tales.
To summarise the new story/rhyme, the much loved characters ring has been stolen and they must travel far and wide to find it. Once again the poetry makes for an easy, entertaining read which can and will be enjoyed by all.
The two books together would make a great upcoming christmas gift for children of all ages and these should be two classics that are seen on every child's bookshelf. You can buy them from all good retailers. However, why not enter my giveaway now and see if you can win the books (details at the bottom of the pictures).
